Aquí vuelvo con otra colección de actividades que podemos llevar a cabo en la Gran Manzana durante el Otoño.

1. Pumpkin Carving y tiendas pop-up de Halloween:

Si en uno de los anteriores post os hablaba del Pumpkin Patch en el que habíamos elegido unas calabazas para decorar, ahora es momento de enseñaros el resultado. Pensaba que sería más complicado, pero durante Halloween venden unos kit para hacer las decoraciones de las calabazas que resultan muy útiles y sencillos de usar.

Como he mencionado en el título, también hay tiendas pop-up que están abiertas durante la temporada de Halloween. Una de ellas es “Spirit of Halloween”. Tiene varias localizaciones en la ciudad y, como ya he dicho, sólo está abierta unos meses. Aquí hay disfraces, decoraciones y demás historias para todos los gustos:

2. Visitar algún museo:

Cuando el frío empieza en la Gran Manzana, y aún no ha empezado de verdad, visitar un museo siempre es buena opción.

En mi caso, cuando todavía no había empezado a hacer mucho frío, visité el Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) y, en particular la exposición que había en su rooftop (terraza con vistas espectaculares de Central Park, que cierra durante los meses de más frío hasta primavera). La exposición en cuestión que vi, fue la de Adrián Villar Rojas titulada “The Theater of Dissapearance”. Muchas de las piezas que aquí se podían ver, eran réplicas de esculturas u obras que estaban en el museo y, que el autor, ha incorporado de manera diferente:

3. Un paseo por Central Park:

Ya que el MET está al lado de Central Park, démonos un paseo por ahí. Aunque siempre está bonito, particularmente en otoño, Central Park luce mucho más (o al menos eso pienso yo). El colorido otoñal, lo cambia por completo:

4. Ver la Maratón de NYC:

Emocionante, vibrante y miles de adjetivos más podría usar para describir este evento. Tengo la suerte de que pasa por detrás de mi casa, así que no tuve que irme muy lejos para verla. ¡ Me encantó ! Personas de diferentes países, nacionalidades, culturas…unidas por el deporte.

Lloré al ver a personas discapacitadas llevando a cabo este enorme reto. ¡ Un aplauso para ell@s ! Y un tirón de orejas para el famoseo patrio, véase Samantha Vallejo-Nájera, que hizo la maratón andando por el puro postureo, o eso es lo que yo pienso, de poner luego la fotita en Instagram. Hay gente que quiere hacer esta prueba desde siempre y se quedan sin dorsal porque es dificilísimo conseguirlo y otr@s, por sus billetes bonitos, aquí están. ¡ Muy mal !

5. Visitar la tienda de Line Friends:

Aunque eso suponga tener que ir a Times Square y sobrevivir a las hordas de gente que allí habitan.

Line Friends Store, es una tienda basada en la aplicación de móvil Line. No sé si la recordaréis, era un App similar al Whatsapp que emergió hace algunos años y cuyos emojis estaban protagonizados, principalmente, por unos tiernos conejitos y ositos.

I’m back with more activities that we can carry out in the Big Apple during the Fall season.

1. Pumpkin Carving and Halloween pop-up stores:

If in one of the previous post I talked about the Pumpkin Patch ,in which we chose some pumpkins to decorate, now it is the time to show you the result. I thought it would be more complicated, but during Halloween they sell kits to make pumpkin decorations that are very useful and easy to use. (You can see the result if you go up).

As I mentioned in the title, there are also pop-up stores that open during the Halloween season. One of them is “Spirit of Halloween”. It has several locations in the city and, as I said, it is only open for a few months. You can find costumes, decorations and more.

2. Visiting a museum:

When the cold starts in the Big Apple, and it has not started yet, visiting a museum is always a good option.

In my case, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) and, in particular, the exhibition that was on its rooftop (terrace with spectacular views of Central Park, which closes during the months of more cold until spring). The exhibition that I saw was “The Theater of Dissapearance” by Adrián Villar Rojas. Many of the pieces that could be seen there, were replicas of sculptures or works that were already in the museum and that the author had incorporated in a different way.

3. A walk through Central Park:

Since the MET is next to Central Park, let’s walk around there. Although it is always beautiful, particularly in the Fall, Central Park looks even more amazing (or I think so). The fall colors change it completely.

4. See the NYC Marathon:

Exciting, vibrant and thousands of other adjectives could be used to describe this event. I’m lucky that it passes behind my house, so I did not have to go far to see it. I loved it ! People from different countries, nationalities, cultures … united by sport.

I cried when seeing disabled people crarrying out this enormous challenge. An applause for them! And a tug on the ears for the national family, for example Samantha Vallejo-Nájera, who did the marathon walking just for appearing inthe picture, or that’s what I think, and then post it on Instagram. There are people who want to participate in the Marathon they can not because it is very difficult to get it and others, because they are who they are, here they go. That’s not good!

5. Visiting the Line Friends store:

Even if that means having to go to Times Square and survive the hordes of people who are there.

Line Friends Store, is a store based on the Line mobile App. I do not know if you will remember it, it was an App similar to WhatsApp that emerged some years ago and whose emojis were protagonized, mainly, by some tender bunnies and bears.
