¡Hola!
Dejamos las temperaturas abrasadoras del Valle de la Muerte cuando estaba atardeciendo y condujimos a través de sus carreteras desérticas cuando la noche ya estaba cayendo. ¿Cuál era el sitio elegido para pasar la noche? ¡Seguro que adivináis! Lucecitas de colores, gente que no se tiene de en pie, lujo combinado con lo más hortera y a sólo dos horas de este maravilloso desierto que nada tiene que ver con esta ciudad que estoy describiendo. Sí, Las Vegas.

Si recordáis mi post del año pasado sobre nuestra visita a la ciudad del pecado (https://spanishchickinthecity.wordpress.com/2017/04/09/welcome-to-fabulous-las-vegas-my-spring-break-part-2/) ya decía que no era el tipo de turismo que yo suelo practicar pero que, sí que es un lugar que debería verse una vez en la vida. Algo bueno de Las Vegas, es que es una ciudad cercana a lugares interesantes (interesantes de verdad). Por eso fue nuestra “ciudad dormitorio” entre Death Valley y Bryce Canyon. Como ya habíamos experimentado la ciudad el año anterior durante dos noches y un día, lo que queríamos este año era descansar. Así que sí, hicimos la visita rápida a la señal “Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas!”, el Strip y fuimos al hotel que teníamos para esa noche, fuera del epicentro de la locura (https://lasvegas.redroof.com/).

Bien descansados y, madrugando como es propio en este tipo de viajes, pusimos rumbo a Bryce Canyon (a unas 4 horas de Las Vegas) en el estado de Utah (hay que tener en cuenta que este estado se rige por el horario navajo, así que es una hora menos allí).
Bryce Canyon está al sur del estado anteriormente mencionado y, lo más característico de este lugar, son sus estructuras rocosas conocidas como hoodoos. Se trata de una especie de chimeneas rocosas erosionadas por el agua y que se agrupan formando anfiteatros. Nosotros dedicamos el día entero a visitar este lugar; como siempre, llevábamos estudiados los puntos más importantes, etc (lo siento, yo nunca me guío por la Lonely Planet, soy más de leer blogs y experiencias personales) pero siempre está bien visitar el Centro de Visitantes, para que te den el mapa, te resuelvan dudas, etc. Además, estos mapas suelen ser muy fáciles de seguir.

Los miradores más importantes en Bryce (aunque nosotros hicimos todos) son: Sunrise, Sunsent, Inspiration y Bryce. No dejéis de hacer una de las rutas cortas, de entre 1 o 3 horas, entre los diferentes puntos. Nosotros caminamos por la que va entre el Sunrise y el Sunset Point, a través del Queens Garden Trail, y que acaba en una zona con paredes altas que recuerdan a los rascacielos neoyorquinos, llamada “Wall Street”.

Moverse por Bryce Canyon de punto a punto, a no ser que se hagan los trails, es muy sencillo pues sólo requiere un coche (las carreteras están perfectas). Alojarse allí, tampoco tiene mayor complicación. En nuestro caso elegimos un hotel fuera del parque, como a unos 20 minutos de la entrada, que me encantó. Como siempre digo, en muchas cosas este país falla, lo primero por el inepto que tienen dirigiendo el país, pero en cuanto a riqueza natural…¡es una maravilla! No pude más que quedarme boquiabierta cuando estuve en Bryce. Para volver…muchas veces.

We left the high temperatures of Death Valley behind when it was getting dark and drove through desert roads when night was already falling. Which was the placethat we chose to spend the night? Surely you’ll guess! Colorful lights, drunk people, luxury combined with the tackiest atmosphere and only two hours away from this wonderful desert that has nothing to do with the city that I am describing. Yes, Las Vegas.

If you remember my post from last year about our visit to Sin City (https://spanishchickinthecity.wordpress.com/2017/04/09/welcome-to-fabulous-las-vegas-my-spring-break-part- 2 /), I already said that it was not the kind of tourism that I usually do but that it is a place that should be seen once in a lifetime. Something good about Las Vegas, is that it is a city close to interesting places (places that are interesting for real). That’s why it was our “bedroom city” between Death Valley and Bryce Canyon. As we had already experienced the city the previous year for two nights and one day, what we wanted this year was to rest. So yes, we made the quick visit to the “Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas!” sign, the Strip and went to the hotel we had for that night, outside the epicenter of the madness (https://lasvegas.redroof.com/) .

Well rested and, getting up early, as it is necessary on this type of trips, we headed to Bryce Canyon (about 4 hours away from Las Vegas) in the state of Utah (keep in mind that this state is follows the Navajo schedule, so it is one hour less there).

Bryce Canyon is to the south of the state previously mentioned and, the most characteristic things about this place, are its rocky structures known as hoodoos. It is a kind of rocky chimneys eroded by water and grouped forming amphitheatres. We spent the whole day visiting this place; as always, we had studied the most important points, etc (sorry, I never go for the Lonely Planet, I’m more of reading blogs and personal experiences) but it’s always good going to the Visitors Center, so they give you the map, solve possible doubts, etc. Besides, these maps are usually very easy to follow.

The most important viewpoints in Bryce (although we did all) are: Sunrise, Sunsent, Inspiration and Bryce. Do not forget to do one of the short trails, 1 or 3 hours, between the different points. We walked along the one between Sunrise and Sunset Point, through the Queens Garden Trail, and ended up in an area with high walls reminiscent of New York skyscrapers, called “Wall Street”.

Moving through Bryce Canyon from point to point, unless you hike the trails , is very simple because it only requires of a car (the roads are perfect). Staying there, also, has no major problem. In our case we chose a hotel outside the park, about 20 minutes from the entrance, which I loved. As I always say, in many things this country fails, first because of the that…thing that is running the country, but in terms of natural wealth … it’s a wonder! I could not help but be left speechless when I was in Bryce. To return … many times.
